The TAPING RECORDER November, 2005 News from & about Taping For The Blind, Inc. www.tapingfortheblind.org HOLIDAY RECEPTION--We hope you can join us for our annual holiday reception on Wednesday, December 7, 2005, from 5-7 p.m. at 3935 Essex Lane. Join your fellow volunteers (some of the nicest people in the world) and bring the holiday season in with a bang. Well, possibly with a bang is better suited to a Fourth of July bash, but come anyway. Great food and great fellowship! AWARD-WINNING--We are very pleased to announce that our website (see URL above) is an award-winning site. And we have a trophy to prove it. We received this recognition in the recent AIR-Houston competitionand we were judged by experts. Our new website has a great new look and content that has been completely revised and improved. We have expanded our program schedule substantially, and we have many more graphics and photos to make the site more appealing. And, best of all, it is wonderfully accessible, which is the point of the AIR-Houston competition. As a result of this competition there are more accessible sites and more people who know how to code these sites. Best of all, it raises awareness of the importance of having websites that are accessible. Congratulations to Technology Chairman (and Webmaster) Scott Ward for the great work he has done. We also thank Joan Gallo and Ginger Gish for their hard work on the content of the site. Thanks as well to Josh Jackson for his wonderful contributions! NEW OFFICERS--The Board of Directors elected new officers for 2006. They are Randy de La Garza, President; Larry Foust, Vice President Planning & Technology; Jerry Hanlon, Vice President Development; Michael Garrett, Vice President Client Services; Janet Parisi, Secretary; and Ulyesse LeGrange, Treasurer. Congratulations and best wishes to our new officers! (More about changes on the Board in our December issue.)
