The TAPING RECORDER December 23, 2002 News from and about Taping For The Blind, Inc. www.tapingfortheblind.org HOLIDAY RECEPTION--We hope you were able to attend our holiday party on December 12. If you were in attendance, you no doubt marveled at how Miss Cadence Olyvia Blount stole the show. Proud parents Holly and Justin Blount had a wonderful time showing their little princess off, and the princess seemed to enjoy herself as well. She even allowed this reporter an audience, and proceeded to charm me unmercifully. It was a great party and we have several folks to thank includingCullom Connely, Nancy Daly, Gordon Guillory, Leila Reynolds, Lyn & Les Schmaltz, and Marsha Ulaby for their help with setup and decoration. And thanks to those who brought goodies or helped in many other ways. Let us also thank Ginger Gish for her hard work making this party a success. We also want to thank Laverne Hockenson, Mary Farish Johnston, Millie Herfort, and Jeri Herbsleb for their kind donations of food--all was very much appreciated! DONOR RECEPTION--Our Board of Directors decided that we should host a reception for our major funding sources. We wanted to show off the equipment they have helped us purchase as well as get them better acquainted with us. Our thanks to Chris & Janet Kiersted, John & Aline Deming, Joe & Fanelle Laughlin, Ulyesse LeGrange, Nadine Saffell, Janet Parisi, Ellin Royds, Leila Reynolds, Ted & Jere Pfister, Bob & Victoria Bartlett, Dr. Ed & Linda Bradley, and Bill & Diane Brown for hosting this event. We also offer our appreciation and thanks to Avery Bonnee, Diane Brown, Leila Reynolds, and Ellin Royds for their help with setup and decoration. We had some very interested guests in attendance, and one even brought a nice check! NEW OFFICERS--Nominating Committee Chairman Dr. Bill Gordon presented a recommended slate of officers and directors for 2003 at our November Board of Directors meeting. The following officers were elected for 2003: Bob Bartlett, President; David Gillmore, Vice President Planning; Joe Laughlin, Vice President Development; Dr. Ed Bradley, Vice President Client Services; Janet Parisi, Secretary; and Ulyesse LeGrange, Treasurer. We also welcome the following new directors: John Hesse, Barbara McCormick, Randy de La Garza, and Dennis Tompkins. We wish each officer and director much success in 2003 as they guide Taping. You may have noted a new officer's position, the Vice President Client Services. This is the result of a rewrite of our bylaws that added this position. Thanks to Leila Reynolds for her dedicated effort in putting this revision together, and thanks to President Kiersted for his determination in completing this project.
